Update!
Wow.
It's been pretty long... An update is required.
1. I'm in Sec 3 now! *Exclaims in surprise*
2. I discovered new authors and new books. YAY.
3. I discovered manga -- notably, Fullmetal Alchemist. One of the better-drawn mangas, IMO -- but then, I've never read manga before...
4. Still Life with Crows!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6. Richard Preston!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. The Hot Zone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. The Black Magician Trilogy!!!!!
9. The Pendergast Trilogy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. The Green Mile!!!
11. Doug-- Oops, I mentioned them already...
12. Pokemon Evolution =/= real evolution.
13. Bushfire near house!
14. Personality type = ISFP!
15. 0% MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE!
16. Why do I have to rationalise denominators and conjugate surds? WHY?
17. Social Studies can go stuff a duck. I hate it. As boring as in Pr. School. D<
18. I and box-and0whisker plots disagree with each other.
19. I'm one of the few who's not going for any RA. I vaguely wanted Bio, but nevermind... The library has resources. Receptor proteins can also go stuff a duck. Stem cells need you... molecules to work, dammit.
20. Epic Thing = absolute win, to use the commonly-seen phrase on the 'net. Wil, write more!
That's about it. I need to get myself a timetable or I'll have to keep asking LT and Joan and somehow I get the feeling they dislike me doing that... Uh, weird. Who could possibly turn down THE GUY?
*Yawn*
Uhhh... Lame stuff discussed over these days... Lessee. We talked about interviewing Epic Thing characters, me and Wil. We discussed names. My favourite kind of names is Greek names. We discussed composers like Debussy, LOL. Who knew so many composers had weird names? MapleStory music, like telling a Krexel from a pretzel from a quetzal... LOL?
On the subject of not-so-lame stuff, I have found a new set of authors to occupy myself with: Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, people who write awesome books together as well as equally-awesome individual books. Richard Preston, apparently a relative of Douglas Preston, who wrote The Hot Zone. Ebola!! *Shudders* Extremely informative, that book. I'm never going to Africa. O.0
I had no idea manga could be good. Fullmetal Alchemist is a rather interesting series, with great art... This must be the only non-Pokemon manga I've read. I do read comics, though -- like Garfield. <3 Still...! A shocking revelation. But I think I'll stick to it and only it for the time being... Fruits Basket fails to interest me, despite Wil's feelings otherwise.
Dry shoot next week! Yay!
OMG, Still Life with Crows! Awesomeness! It has just about the best plot ever, and I'm NOT being sarcastic. It... is just... wonderful. The characters are caricatured in a believable way; they have their own styles of thinking, their own personalities, their own methods of action -- they're unique. They're not run-of-the-mill Mary-Sues. They have life. Few people can manage that. And the plot itself...! I worship Messrs. Preston and Child now. Everything builds up to the climax, where conflict meets -- the murders of Medicine Creek, the Massacre, the Kraus Kaverns. And after the main climax there comes a second one; one that seems forced, on the first glance, but leads to the answering of The One Question perfectly logically. And the emotion in this book, the juxtaposition of the characters -- everything fits so well that you can't help but love it. I think I've said enough.
I don't get Twilight, and will probably never get Twilight. I dislike vampires, I dislike unhinged plots, I dislike logic-less books, I dislike how everyone seems to fawn over this Edward Cullen -- AND ASSUME OTHERS ARE ALSO FAWNING OVER HIM!!!! I really, really hated it when people simply thought that everyone else must have read Twilight, which they hold as their NUMBER ONE TOME OF HOLINESS, blah blah, and that everyone else also likes Mr. Cullen. WHAT? Can't you guys just comprehend that I do NOT want to read it and I think this author, this Stephanie SOMETHING, should go stuff a duck?? This series cannot compare to the Harry Potter one. I fail to see how people could swoon over it. Apparently, enough of RGS does -- even Tribune writers seem to think that Twilight is the NUMBER ONE TOME OF HOLINESS for everyone!! It boggles the mind. If they were ranting about Harry Potter I can understand, but Twilight...!
Huh. That done, I suppose I've nothing more to say, except that I suddenly find microbiology VERY interesting...
HT: Yup. And that the Long-tailed Macaques that our school's CmPS group so badly wants to save are identified as possible, if not confirmed, vectors of the Ebola Reston virus. Yeah, the very same species that Raffles named. Talk about small worlds...
