Guess I need to work a few things out.

Well, to be honest, only one thing. It's been bugging me and giving me a moral hangover for so long now.

The question is, Is it RIGHT to carry over a hatred (one that is shared by almost everyone of that race) for another country/race/nationality (for ease of reference, Country A) that was manifested in you by the indoctrination of your guardians from a very young age, who themselves believe that this hatred is justified?

Okay, that sentence just got lost in a mire of grammatical FAIL, but never mind that.

What I've been thinking for all this time is that Yes, it is, in my case, because I feel that I was able to decide for myself when I was convinced. However, lately I've been shaken over my beliefs.

Yes:

- It is justified in my grandparents'/parents' generation because they were the ones who bore the brunt of the injustices inflicted upon them by Country A's actions. Their reasons make sense. They appeal to both logic and compassion. It is almost impossible not to condemn Country A for its actions. My own family has been affected by Country A's actions; it is natural for me to feel indignant for it.

(Pardon my wording. See, this is why I cannot do SS.)

- Country A has barely done anything to ameliorate the damage it has brought about, to my knowledge, which is of course very un-extensive and biased. (If proof is brought to my knowledge, I would change my mind.) It has not apologised for its actions, or even admitted its wrongs. Furthermore, it has tried to prevent its citizens, the younger generation, from knowing the truth by writing the entire event off. I cannot tolerate this; neither do my kin and my countrymen. It is understandable that Country A wishes to preserve its image, but when the sin it has committed far outweighs this consideration, the truth needs to be brought to light.

- Peer pressure, etc: the anti-A sentiment in my country is still strong, in both the older and the younger generations. It is hard to explain why so many people are so inflamed over this issue if not for the simple reason that A's deeds cannot be tolerated. I have been convinced.


No:

- It is illogical to still hold a grudge against the population of Country A for something their government has done in the past. The civilians bear little responsibility for the deeds of their authorities, whom they cannot control. If informed of the heinous deeds of their government and military, they would probably stop the happenings.

THIS IS THE POINT THAT HAS BEEN BUGGING ME.

In fact, I feel great sympathy for the civilians when they suffer needlessly as a result of their government's actions. Brief Write-up of Experiences in China

LOLSUP.

A brief introduction:

Spent most of my Holidays in China [I.E. Only 2 days in Singapore]. Out of that long period of time, around 3 days were wasted away in Beijing. TSK. The rest were spent in Liaoyang. The last Friday was spent on a plane.

1. Shopped for CDs and watched TV shows there -- sigh! Chinese TV shows are soooo much better than Singaporean ones! Bought Lilo and Stitch CDs[Chinese version], 家有儿女 1 & 2, 上书房, 宝莲灯前传 and 黑脸大包公。Obviously some are meant for the younger sister. Watched a few shows happily. LOLed at CCTV 少儿's cartoons.


2. Read GOOD books there! Thanks to my cousin [23, female, resident in America], I obtained some three sets of her favourite books: 太平，宫杀 and my favourite，琅琊榜。Strongly recommend the last one to Matt! Shall bring it on Monday for some advertisement. *Vaguely happy thoughts* Hopefully some people will like it...? It's fiction, weird genre [not romance, not action, not thriller, not crime, not 武侠, maybe historic, maybe war...], very interesting and quite long.

Corrie: S/he would still be a punk with great problem solving skills and Friends in High Places, but I wouldn't like her as much...

7. 3 and 5 get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?

Nick manages to convince Orange Mushroom that she didn't really want the wishes after all. Then, he puts forth: A) No more BG and his allies. B) A lifetime's supply of chocolates. C) Mind control over everyone else who does this meme so that he can put himself in the same position as now.



8. 1 and 2 are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 4. They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 4 survive? How?

Beka Cooper... Tough one. I think Pounce can sufficiently dispatch Tigerstar without being much worse for wear, though Jaffar? He has the skills, no doubt, but she's a Dog who can seriously fight. And she has friends...

9. 6, 7, 9 & 10 must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?

Lucius Malfoy would not come in handy here, except maybe reminisce with Voldemort about orphanages when he goes back. He could act as an, uh, angel or something with that long blonde hair. Yeah, he could show off his hair.

Shylock may or may not help out. How about dressing up as Santa with that beard and writing one bond for each wish granted?
